Utah Government Land Ownership

Land ownership is one of the clearest polygon datasets in Utah. Federal BLM land, National Parks, and Wilderness Areas sit next to the state trust lands that SITLA manages. Together they form a patchwork that shapes the state's economy and recreation as much as the terrain does.

A style built to make polygons glow

The map uses John Nelson's "Firefly" style. It has a dark background and bright edges, which keeps ownership categories readable where boundaries get dense.

State trust lands make the patchwork

The state trust land data comes from the Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA). Its scattered sections give the map most of its patchwork texture against the larger federal blocks. I matched the palette to SITLA's own land ownership map, so this version works as a companion to that reference instead of a different scheme.
