The theme is "AI." I gave the whole map to ChatGPT and kept what came back: a set of fictional images of Utah's lakes, rivers, and reservoirs under made-up water-resource change. I used no ArcGIS and no real data. The only input was a prompt.
An experiment, not a map
The problems are easy to find. Place names come out garbled ("Great Saat Salt Lake"). Invented labels sit next to real ones. No dataset backs any of it. The image looks confident and means nothing geographically. That is the point of the entry.
Why it's worth keeping on the site
AI image generation can make something that looks like a map in seconds. It skips data provenance, coordinate accuracy, and the judgment a trained GIS professional applies to raw data. The image is interesting to look at. It is not something to plan around.
